Trying to shed some humor on the unbelievable year gone by, Black Mirror’s creators, Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, have put together the comedy-documentary special Death to 2020, to look back on the dystopian year that, at times, seemed more like another eerie episode of Black Mirror than reality.

The one-off special, set to stream on Netflix, not only boasts Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones as the creators and executive producers, but also packs some serious star power. Death to 2020 features an extensive line up of beloved celebrities that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Joe Keery, and Black Mirror favorite Cristin Milioti, among others.

Pulling together footage that recounts the ups, downs, and all-around confusion of 2020, alongside the cast’s portrayals of the year’s prominent– and entirely fictional– leading figures, Death to 2020 aims to bring a little light and laughter into a year so bizarre and beyond the pale.

Described by Netflix as “a comedic look at the year we all want to end through the eyes of the worst-informed commentators you'll ever meet,” the original film offers a bright spot as the year draws to a close.

While Netflix has yet to announce when the special will arrive for streaming, it promises that Death to 2020 is coming soon. So watch the teaser trailer below, and enjoy the unexpectedly good news from a year in which good news has been hard to come by.
