The first official trailer for Netflix’s upcoming series Ratched just dropped, and it’ll have you shaking in your scrubs.

Ratched is created by Evan Romansky, executive produced by American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy, and stars long-time Murphy collaborator and American Horror Story lead Sarah Paulson as the titular caregiver. The miniseries centers on the Nurse Mildred Ratched character from Ken Kesey’s classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and will inject frightening new life into the character by imagining her origin story.

Murphy is certainly no stranger to shows set in mental institutions. Case in point? American Horror Story: Asylum. But while Asylum's sets were often shrouded in darkness, Ratched's world is all bright mid-century colors: crisp pastel uniforms, flower pattern wallpaper, gleaming tile floors, and harsh medical lighting. There are no gloomy corridors and flitting shadows here, and it’s all the more terrifying to witness this nightmarish world of "care" and "rehabilitation" in broad daylight.

Nurse Ratched sent a wave of fear through readers and viewers alike in Ken Kesey’s novel and the 1975 film of the same name. Louise Fletcher portrayed the character in the 1975 movie, earning an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe Award for her unforgettable performance. Now Sarah Paulson will step into Nurse Ratched's ward shoes—and if today's trailer is any indication, she's primed to deliver a deliciously twisted rendition. Murphy and co., meanwhile, conjure yet another narrative world as rich and stylish as it is menacing, putting a darkly funny spin on the Ratched character while administering a spine-tingling dose of chills.

Joining Paulson in the upcoming series is Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Sharon Stone, Jon Jon Briones, Corey Stoll, Rosanna Arquette, and Don Cheadle, among others. The show is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18th and is sure to be a terrifying ride. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer below. We’ll count down from 10.
