A terrifying new television show has come to give you nightmares. Inspired by Robert McCammon's Stinger, the first two episodes of the sci-fi horror series Teacup are available now to stream on Peacock.
Published in 1988, McCammon's novel unfolds in Inferno, Texas over a 24-hour period.
Though the town is already threatening to implode under the weight of racial tension, gang violence, and a collapsing economy, everything gets quickly worse when a spacecraft crashes in the desert outside of town.
Stinger
A second unidentified craft touches down after the first, bringing with it an alien being called Stinger. Stinger is a brutal interstellar hunter on a mission he plans to carry out at any cost.
Equipped with a vast array of cosmic technology, Stinger is capable of a destruction so catastrophic that it transcends the troubled town of Inferno.
Teacup will have some key differences to McCammon's chilling novel. First and foremost, it's set in rural Georgia, rather than Texas.
Given that only a portion of the episodes are out, it may be too soon to tell, but I suspect the timeline of the story may be expanded as well—especially if they're looking to score a second season.
Showrunner Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone) executive-produced this project alongside, among others, horror legend James Wan (The Conjuring). The series stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, and more.
